How Spark Adriatic Built Mobile Loyalty Games for a National Restaurant Brand
Dickey's Barbecue Pit — the world's largest barbecue franchise — wanted to give its Big Yellow Cup Rewards members a new reason to open the app beyond ordering, without disrupting the core ordering and rewards flows already used by millions of guests.

Give loyalty members a new reason to open the app.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit — the world's largest barbecue franchise — wanted to give its Big Yellow Cup Rewards members a new reason to open the app beyond ordering, without disrupting the core ordering and rewards flows already used by millions of guests.
Three custom interactive mini-games, launched inside the Dickey's app.
Transforming routine tasks into engaging user habits. Spin wheels, progress tracks, and digital scratch cards engineered with high-frequency feedback loops. We build native-web experiences using highly optimized canvas layers for flawless performance.

Catcher
Build a barbecue sandwich by catching falling ingredients.

Big Yellow Cup Flip Challenge
Flip and land Dickey's iconic cup before time runs out.

Memory
Match Dickey's-themed card pairs against the clock.
Built to fit inside a live, high-traffic app.
- One randomized daily game, accessible via the Weekly Challenge tile on the Home and Rewards tabs
- Points awarded on every attempt — win or lose — removing friction from participation
- Up to 30 loyalty points per week available for completing all three weekly challenges
- Full integration with Dickey's existing Big Yellow Cup Rewards points engine
- Design, development, QA, and deployment into an already-live, high-traffic production app — with zero disruption to existing ordering and rewards functionality
Strengthening the app as a primary engagement channel.
With nearly 30% of Dickey's online orders now placed through its mobile app, the app has become a primary engagement and ordering channel for the brand. The new games were built to strengthen that channel further by giving loyalty members another reason to open the app regularly.
How it was built.
Stack
Flutter for the mobile game experience, integrated into Dickey's existing app; Express.js APIs deployed on AWS handling game logic and loyalty-point integration.
Team
One Flutter developer, one backend developer, one UI/UX designer, one project manager.
QA process
Multi-stage validation — internal review of visual and interaction assets, full user-perspective testing by Spark Adriatic's QA team, followed by alpha testing with Dickey's employees ahead of public release.
Integration
Games connect directly into Dickey's existing Big Yellow Cup Rewards points engine, so point accrual works seamlessly alongside ordering and other existing rewards activity.
Release
Shipped into a live, high-traffic production app used by millions of guests, with no disruption to core ordering or rewards functionality.
“At Dickey's, we're always looking for new ways to make every barbecue experience more rewarding. Our Big Yellow Cup Rewards members are some of our most loyal guests, and these new mobile games give them another fun reason to open the app, engage with our brand and earn rewards they can use toward their next barbecue meal.”
